At Explorers Credit Union, we believe in navigating life’s financial journey together. We’re seeking a mission-driven Accounting Manager to guide our accounting operations and support our crew in delivering exceptional service to our members.
Your Mission:
As Accounting Manager, you’ll be the financial compass for our organization—leading monthly closings, financial reporting, audits, and risk management. You’ll also support HR functions like payroll and onboarding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
- Partner with the CFO on audits, regulatory reporting, and budgeting
- Supervise and develop the Accounting Specialist
- Manage payroll and HR coordination with our PEO
- Support internal audit, CECL, and ALM committee efforts
- Champion our culture and values across the organization
- Serve as backup for accounts payable, receivable, and daily balancing
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required)
- Master's degree (preferred)
Experience:
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
- 2+ years in a financial institution (preferred)
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance
- Experience with HR and collections compliance
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills
- Leadership experience with direct reports
Other Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally (e.g., equipment)
- Willingness to travel 1-2 times per year for training/conferences
- Must pass a criminal background check and credit report
